I am Sam, Sam-I-Am!
-Sam
Samuel I. Amuel[1], also known as Sam-I-Am(alternatively spelled Sam I-Am) or just Sam is the protagonist, later true secondary antagonist, then deuteragonist of the 2019 Netflix original series Green Eggs and Ham. Sam is a short, anthropomorphic creature with no ears or a tail who constantly asks Guy to try the green eggs and ham. He is voiced by Adam DeVine.
Personality[]
Sam is very positive and happy-go-lucky most of the time. He loves green eggs and ham and orders them at every diner he goes to. Aside from green eggs and ham, Sam also claims to love animals, telling Guy that he kidnapped the chickeraffe from the zoo to return it to the wild. But it is revealed later in the series that he is actually a con-man who was sent by his boss, Hervnick Z. Snerz, to kidnap the chickeraffe and bring back it to him. However, he soon starts to actually like the chickeraffe and (along with E.B.) even gives him a name: Mr. Jenkins.
Sam can also be generally socially oblivious and emotionally manipulative, making him good as a con-man. However, he later realizes this later in the series and turns against Snerz. His biggest reason for loving green eggs and ham is not just because of the taste, but because he wants to eat as much of it as possible so he can find the exact recipe his mother used to always make.
In the episode "There", Sam explains to Guy that his reason for being a conman was because nobody wanted him to stay the same person. Deep down, he just wants a friend to stick around with him, since it is implied that he has been lonely ever since his mom left him at the orphanage.

Trivia[]
- Like Guy Am-I, he is faithful to his book counterpart.
- In "Train", Sam reveals to E.B. that his full name is Samuel I. Amuel, even though it is unknown what the I stands for.
- Sam is somewhat similar to SpongeBob SquarePants from the Nickelodeon cartoon of the same name, and Wander from the Disney cartoon Wander Over Yonder.
- He had a great plot twist that was unpredictable to us and the characters at the same time: He was actually a con-man who was working for Snerz and not the BADGUYS (In fact, they turned out to be false antagonists, due to their misleading name that stands for: Bureau of Animal Defense Glurfsburg Upper Yipsville Section). And when he pretended to be a wildlife rescuer, he left a few hints that he's lying
- First, when he made Mr. Jenkins jump in the air to fly, he was unaware that Chickeraffes are flightless.
- Second, when he mistakenly believed goats cannot climb.
- With that said, he was smart enough to put a facade of pretending to be an oblivious fool in order to keep Mr. Jenkins safe and his title.
- He has a tragic backstory about his mom leaving him to an orphanage.
- Despite every endeavor and conflict Sam went through, he has a good spirit in his personality.
- He's also very good-natured and has a positive attitude towards anyone he speaks to.
- His design is good, since he looks exactly like his book counterpart along with Guy Am-I.
- Adam DeVine had terrible experience voice acting, but he was great voicing this character.
- He has more character development than his original counterpart.
- He has a strong relationship with Guy Am-I and gets along pretty well with being the optimistic and cheery one to Guy's pessimistic attitude.
- Sam's facade with his behavior and his antics can come off as extremely strange or far-fetched.
