The first season of Green Egg and Ham was announced on April 29, 2015 by Netflix. Production began in May 2015 for a 2018 premiere.
According to an article on Deadline Hollywood, the series would take three years to complete under the belt of Ellen DeGeneres. The budget for the series was around $5-6 million an episode at the time. Netflix eventually accepted the deal after months of negotiations.
The season premiered with "Here" on November 8, 2019 on Netflix. It consists of thirteen episodes.
